Jacob’s Well is located in the West Bank and is often considered the most authentic site in the Holy Land, since no one can move a well. It is the site where Jesus asked a Samaritan woman for a drink while He was resting after a tiring journey. In speaking with a Samaritan and, even more shocking, a woman, and asking her for a drink, He was breaking all cultural taboos. Because of her positive response, however, He introduced her to living waters and a new life in communion with Him.

In this world of sin and division, no holy site more explicitly represents the love and acceptance that Jesus asks us all to have toward one another, regardless of our beginnings or differences. He asks this of us and in return offers us “living waters”..

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst. John 4:14
